Our Staff Physicians
At Palos Verdes Medical Group, our team consists of experienced, compassionate pediatricians, asthma specialists, allergists, immunologists, internists, family doctors and friendly, nurturing staff members who take pride in giving our patients the personalized care that they deserve.
All of our doctors are highly educated professionals who have undergone rigorous academic and clinical training in their specialties. We maintain a high level of expertise through continuing education in order to provide the most up-to-date care for the patients we are privileged to serve. The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff’s training, professional credentials, and work experience.
Lawrence D. Sher, M.D., FAAP, FAAAA, FACAAI
Pediatrics, ADHD, Adult and Pediatric Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
Dr. Sher is board-certified in adult and pediatric asthma, allergy and immunology and pediatrics. He is active in both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is currently a member of its immunotherapy committee in addition to the rhinitis and sinusitis committee.
Dr. Sher went to medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at University of California, Los Angeles and fellowship in allergy, asthma and immunology at both the UCLA Westwood and Harbor campuses. He has been in practice for 20 years in the Palos Verdes community. He founded Peninsula Research Associates in 1999, a clinical trials institute devoted to helping develop new vaccines and medications for asthma, allergies, ADHD and sleep disorders.
Nadra (Monica) Saad, M.D., FAAP
Newborns, Pediatrics & Adolescents
Dr. Saad is board-certified in pediatrics and has a special interest in preventive medical care, newborn care, and adolescent health. She is on staff at both Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital.
Dr. Saad completed her residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds a fellowship with the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has also been PALS Certified. While she was living in Illinois, Dr. Saad was a member of the Healthy Children Program Committee through the American Academy of Pediatrics and was on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society, Downers Grove Unit from 1989 to 1990.
Dr. Saad has been in private practice for over 25 years. She joined Palos Verdes Medical Group in 1995. Dr. Saad has also been the sub-investigator for over 200 clinical trials at Peninsula Research Associates. Her clinical expertise includes studies focused on allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic bronchitis, otitis media, pneumonia, sinusitis and vaccinations.
Laurence K. Gorlick, M.D.
Dr. Gorlick is board-certified in internal medicine and was also one of the first physicians to be board-certified in geriatrics in 1986. He is on staff at both Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital and is licensed to practice medicine in New York, Connecticut and California.
Dr. Gorlick completed his internal medicine residency at Norwalk Hospital which is in affiliation with Yale University School of Medicine. He was the former Director of Laboratory Medicine at ProHealth Partners and also spent many years working as an Associate Professor of Medicine and clinical instructor at UCLA St. Mary Medical Center.
Dr. Gorlick practiced general medicine for over 20 years in the Los Alamitos and Long Beach areas and has been practicing in the South Bay for over 10 years. He joined Palos Verdes Medical Group in 2001.
Angela Chezem, M.D.
Dr. Chezem joined Palos Verdes Medical Group in November 2013. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds a fellowship with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Chezem has practiced Family Medicine for 10 years both in private practice as well as serving active duty military and their family members. She provides care from newborns to adults in addition to women’s health.
Dr. Chezem attended medical school at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she also obtained an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. She completed her residency through the Fairfax Family Practice Residency Program at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia.
Bryan Mitton, M.D., Ph.D.
Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Mitton first joined Palos Verdes Medical Group as an on-call physician. After taking a three year hiatus to work in the research department at Stanford University, Dr. Mitton returned to PVMG as a full-time physician in 2015.
Dr. Mitton, who specializes in pediatrics with subspecialty training in hematology (blood diseases) and oncology (cancer and cancer predisposition syndromes), came to Palos Verdes Medical Group from the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University, where he completed his Hematology/Oncology subspecialty training. After graduating from medical school at the University of Cincinnati with an M.D. and a Ph.D. in cardiovascular pharmacology, Dr. Mitton completed his pediatric residency at UCLA.
Dr. Mitton holds a number of patents on a drug for heart failure that he hopes will move through clinical trials. He has also won teaching awards at the undergraduate, medical and fellowship levels.
